MICHAEL FRANTI ANNOUNCES TWO-DAY SOULSHINE FESTIVAL IN BALI, DEC. 27-28, 2013
SOULSHINE FESTIVAL TO TAKE PLACE AT THE WORLD-RENOWNED GREEN SCHOOL AND WILL BENEFIT BUMI SEHAT NATURAL BIRTHING CLINICS AND GREEN SCHOOL INDONESIAN SCHOLARSHIP FUND
July 1, 2013 — Ubud, Bali
Musician, poet, and social activist Michael Franti has announced the two-day “Soulshine Festival” to be held at the world-renowned Green School Bali on December 27 and 28, 2013. The music and environmental festival is dedicated to sustainability for Bali and the world and will benefit Bumi Sehat, natural birthing clinics in Bali and Aceh, Indonesia. Funds raised will also be contributed to the Green School’s Indonesian Scholarship Fund, which provides free education for Indonesian children.
“The Soulshine Festival is about coming together to celebrate life—the life of our planet—and the power we all have to make a difference,” said Franti. “Come and join us for a magical time in Bali.”
The Soulshine Festival aims to “educate, enlighten, and inspire.” The main stage of musical artists will feature performances by Michael Franti and Spearhead as well as special musical guests. In addition, the Soulshine Festival will also feature an environmentally-themed series of award-winning speakers and films, morning yoga, an eco-tent for kids, vendors and food booths, and social and environmental organizations tables and forums. Limited on-site accommodation in bamboo yurts will be available.
“I'm excited to share two days of family-friendly music and inspiring environmental activities in one of the most stunning locations in Bali, the amazing Green School,” said Franti. “The Soulshine Festival will benefit Bumi Sehat Natural Birthing Clinics, who are working to save lives of mothers and children in Indonesia. We will also benefit the Green School’s Indonesian scholarship program that offers free education to local children.”
Franti has been performing benefit concerts for Bumi Sehat in Bali since 2006, and this year is expanding to a full two-day festival to be held on the grounds of Green School Bali, a sustainability education-based international school that has been awarded “the greenest school on earth” for its innovative student-centered, nature-based curriculum and its solar-powered bamboo campus.
